Langhe hazelnuts are the most sought after by cake makers, confectioners and lovers of Piedmont dessert in which it is often found as the main ingredient. During this tour the hazelnut woods will often follow you along your journey constantly tempting you to try some.

…AND END WITH THE CHEESE
Following the road you arrive at Murazzano where you must try the oldest of Piedmont’s Robiola Cheeses, a mature cheese with a red coloured crust which has become a symbol of the local farmhouse tradition. The nex stop is Dogliani, dating back to pre-Roman times which is today renown for its Dolcetto wine production and for its delicious local food such as Raschera cheese and the light and delicate tasting Castelmagno.

Day 1


START WITH THE DESSERT…
Leave Cortemilia, main town of the High Langhe hills, a land of wine, truffles, and mushrooms and where the prestigious “Tonda Gentile” hazelnuts, appreciated for their delicate taste, are grown.
The historical centre dates back to medieval times and has narrow arcaded streets. The tour continues towards Torre Bormida where it is possible to visit the remains of the castle and the 19th century churches. The surrounding landscape is characterised by unusual slate wall terracing. You will arrive at Monesiglio which also dates back to medieval times and which is said owes its name to the monks who were forced to live here in exile. You can explore the castle built initially for defence reasons and the medieval Santa Maria Sweet Water sanctuary.
